Our Process

Small things matter

Meaningful impact comes from small, compounding changes. Choosing a trusted partner who will dedicate focus and care to your program will guarantee noticeable results in several ways. From seamless onboarding to world-class refining techniques and informative reporting, Garfield handles the little things so you can focus on the big picture.

Onboarding & Collection

Garfield sends collection and shipping materials to your crematory. We work together to set a collection schedule based on your case volume. Our account management team will arrange all the logistics and communicate along the way. If your team is new to recycling, or just wants a refresher, we are happy to review best practices.

Refining & Processing

When your material arrives at the refinery, it is immediately logged, barcoded and run through our six-stage refining process. Your material is weighed, evaluated, cross-checked and approved at every stage; pre-processing, melting, post-processing/audit, sampling, assay, and inventory.

Reporting

Your dedicated account manager will provide your valuation within a few days of your material’s arrival at Garfield. Our report includes a breakdown of metals recovered from your shipment, precious metal pricing, and any relevant notes regarding your materials. The report will also include a refining charge, a percentage of the overall material collected. To maximize precious metal collection and improve your results, Garfield provides feedback and performance insights specific to your program.

Program Enhancements

Garfield offers resources and opportunities to improve operational efficiency at your crematory and increase the value of your recycling program. We partner with industry-leading manufacturers, offering a wide variety of solutions to suit your specific needs and goals. From sorting guides to processing stations, we have options for everyone regardless of size or case volume.

“Eastern Crematory has been working with Garfield Refining since 2016. Garfield is very user-friendly and personnel have been a pleasure to work with. The tour of the plant and how the metals are processed was fascinating. Garfield helped us with an updated cremation processor so we could collect more small metals. Thank you, Garfield, for helping Eastern Crematory.”
